Every Minute Matters: Why every EFL match kick-off time across the weekend will start one minute later

All EFL matches this weekend - from February 5-9 - will kick off one minute late to raise awareness of the 'Every Minute Matters' campaign.

The initiative will apply to 36 Championship, League One and League Two fixtures taking place between Thursday February 5 to Monday February 9.

EFL sponsor Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) have been working together since May 2024 to highlight the importance of acting quickly when performing life-saving CPR.

The delayed kick-off times will act as "a stark reminder that every minute matters", the EFL said.

The current number of people who have learned CPR since the campaign launched currently sits at over 450,000. This February the Every Minute Matters campaign is aiming to hit the incredible milestone of half a million people.

Sky Bet will also be donating £1,000 to the BHF for every goal scored across the EFL in February - meaning a potential £350,000 payout for the charity in one month based on historic league scoring trends.

Every Minute Matters ambassador Tom Lockyer said: "It's incredible to see the line-up of legends and players getting behind the campaign this Heart Month.

"My hope is that we're just getting started. I'm calling on every fan across the nation - from celebrities, to managers, to grassroots players, footie fans and family members of fans - to get out there and show your heart. Post on social media with your heart hands and most importantly get on to the RevivR website to learn CPR in just 15 minutes.

"This campaign really is building an army of lifesavers, with every single EFL club united in action to raise awareness of cardiac arrest. I simply wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the people who acted fast and stepped up to perform CPR. Learning this lifesaving skill is one of the simplest but most powerful ways you can show your heart - because when someone collapses, what you do next can save their life."

Marking Heart Month this February, the stars will be flooding social media with images of themselves making the iconic heart-hands gesture to encourage supporters everywhere to 'Show Your Heart' and learn CPR using the BHF's free online RevivR tool.
